Smooth uses RMS detection with a program-dependent two-stage release for even, musical control. Punch uses peak detection with a slower attack that lets transients through. Clamp is fast peak detection with a fixed release for firm control.
A continuously variable 0–24 dB knee smooths the transition into compression, so gain reduction arrives musically instead of snapping in at the threshold.
The Mix control blends compressed and dry signal directly in the module, so parallel compression doesn’t need a second track or a second plugin.
Feed the detector from an external sidechain input, adjust its sensitivity with Sidechain Gain, and filter out low end with the Sidechain HPF so bass doesn’t trigger every pump.
Gain reduction is calculated once and applied to both channels together, so compression never pulls the stereo image off-center.
