Nyx recreates an asymmetric Class-A valve stage, Tape adds soft waveshaping with hysteresis and bias, and Diode delivers a firmer, even-order-rich clip – all controlled with a single Drive knob from 0.1× to 10×.
Tape mode models real magnetic lag and asymmetry: Hysteresis sets the softness of that lag, and Bias shifts the shaper off-center to change the harmonic balance.
Air adds high-passed, mostly even-order harmonics above roughly 3.5 kHz alongside the main saturation stage, for sheen that doesn’t flatten what’s underneath.
Tilt reshapes the signal around 1 kHz before it hits the nonlinear stage, so you can push more low end or more top end into the saturation and change its character.
Output trim, a dry/wet Mix, and a smooth Bypass keep the Exciter usable at any intensity, from a subtle vocal sheen to full drum-bus aggression.
